Answers to Common Queries

How to Use

Dosage:As directed by your physician (usually one tablet once daily).
Administration:Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not crush or chew.
Timing:AIM 500 can be taken with or without food. However, taking it with food may reduce the chance of stomach upset.

How it Works

Azithromycin in AIM 500 works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. It binds to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, preventing the bacteria from growing and multiplying. By stopping the production of essential proteins, the bacteria eventually die or are cleared away by the body's immune system.

Safety Advice

Heart Health:Inform your doctor if you have a history of heart rhythm problems (QT prolongation).
Liver Health:Use with caution if you have significant liver disease.
Allergies:Do not use if you are allergic to Azithromycin, Erythromycin, or other macrolide antibiotics.
Antacids: Do not take antacids containing aluminum or magnesium at the same time as AIM 500, as they can reduce its absorption.

What if You Forget?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Why is AIM 500 only taken for 3 days?

Azithromycin has a very long "half-life," meaning it stays in your body tissues for several days after the last dose, continuing to kill bacteria long after you stop taking the tablets.

Can I take AIM 500 for a viral sore throat?

No. It is only effective against bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections like the common cold or flu.

Is it safe for pregnant women?

Azithromycin is generally considered safe during pregnancy, but it should only be used if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor.
